Design & Technology

At Rudheath Primary Academy our Design and Technology curriculum aims to ensure that all pupils have opportunities to learn to think critically and intervene creatively to solve problems, both as individuals and as part of a team. This will allow children to express their creativity, confidence and practical ability in order to become successful in an increasingly technological world and to enable them to consider future occupations such as engineers, architects or designers. The core intent of our Design and Technology teaching is to allow children to develop and apply their knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high quality products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. In addition, helping children to make correct dietary choices and promote a healthy lifestyle by teaching children to apply the principles of good nutrition, understand seasonal produce as well as learning to chop, mix and bake a mixture of sweet and savoury dishes.
